Dr R K Pachauri has been given an Honarary Degree
on 29th April 2010 for work on climate change and sustainable
development by University of Antwerp, Belgium.
Japan's Ambassador Hideaki Domichi
presented the award "Order of
the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star" to Dr
R K Pachauri on behalf of His Majesty Akihito, the Emperor
of Japan, in recognition of his outstanding contributions
to raising awareness in Japan regarding climate change.
Conferred
with Commander of the Order of the
White Rose of Finland by H.E. Mr Matti Vanhanen,
the Prime Minister of Finland on 4th February 2010 in
recognition of his decades long dedicated work in promoting
international cooperation on climate change and sustainable
development.

Global Indian of the Year Award 2009
Amitabh Bachchan, the brand ambassador of the IIFA (International
Indian Film Academy), honoured
Dr Pachauri for his leadership in the global movement
to combat climate change. Dr R K Pachauri was presented
with the IIFA Global Leadership
Award
at the FICCI-IIFA Global Business Forum held in Bangkok
on 6 June 2008.
Conferred the “Padma Vibhushan”,
the second highest civilian award, for his services in
the field of science and engineering in 2008 by the President
of India.
The Nobel Peace Prize for
the year 2007 was awarded to the IPCC under his Chairmanship
and former U.S Vice President Al Gore.
NDTV Global Indian Award for the year 2007
The award, considered the biggest media honour in India,
is given in recognition of Dr R K Pachauri’s work
in Environment Science.
Awarded
the “Jawaharlal Nehru
Birth Centenary Award”
– 2006.
Received the prestigious award of "Officier
de La Legion d'Honneur" - 2006, from the French
Ambassador, Mr Dominique Girard, in New Delhi. This honor
is conferred upon him in recognition of his commitment
to the causes of environmental preservation and sustainable
development.
To acknowledge his immense contributions to the field
of environment, he was awarded "Padma
Bhushan" by the President of India in 2001.
